Evaluating the website of a Southern data center company

Research Goals

FOGO Data Centers (FOGO) had two goals for their website: 1) to gain confidence by establishing credibility and 2) to convert site traffic and interest into a lead or sale. In order to meet these goals, FOGO wanted to use their site to inform and educate potential clients and provide engaging interaction through graphically advanced forms and calls to action.

The goals for this research, then, were to:

  1. Test the general sense of ease of navigation and organization of information on the FOGO website

  2. Garner feedback from test participants about their confidence in FOGO as a credible and reliable company through the use of their site, and

  3. Offer suggestions for site redesign

Methodology

  • Heuristic Evaluation

  • Competitive Analysis

  • Usability Evaluation with 10 participants, five from each of the two main user groups

Deliverables

I analyzed the test data quantitatively and qualitatively, and from those findings, I made recommendations to improve the usability and user-friendliness of the website. I shared the report with the Director of Marketing and other executives.
