UT Libraries scoUT Search

To customize the new search tool UT Libraries had just purchased, my colleague Jade and I first tested the out-of-the-box version.  Jade analyzed other university sites, to see how they displayed the new tool, and I researched previous testing of the tool, to discover findings that would be useful to our own test plan and implementation.

After our initial research, Jade worked with UT Libraries Instruction librarians to develop a set of test questions, and we recruited participants from a convenience sample of university faculty, graduate assistants, and undergraduate patrons of two of the libraries on campus.  We tested eight participants on 12 tasks.
